Forest Stand Improvement

What is Forest Stand Improvement?

FSI is the common Forest Management technique that involves the harvest of some trees within the forest to improve the health of the remaining trees and overall woodlot.

Forest Stand Improvement is a major component of almost all of the Forest Management Plans that we write. The scale of the FSI project in your Plan is determined by aspects of your woodlot as well as the size of your property.

Ridge and Valley aims to visit each property we help manage every three years, to give direction and feedback on the work being done on the property and also to mark trees for FSI with paint.

While many landowners take on FSI projects themselves, Ridge and Valley has built a “Full Service” model that allows landowners to simply contact with us to mark and remove the amount of trees prescribed in your plan within the scope of improving the health of the forest.

For more information on FSI and other services that we can handle for you in a turn key fashion, please Contact Us.
